A message from Fr John

Dear Friends

Good morning - an extra layer on today I think

I had a very interesting note from one of our parishioners regarding face masks:

'A very simple thing in these strange times would be to give up disposable face masks in favour of washable cotton fabric ones. If people can’t sew, they’re cheap enough to buy. Kimberley’s Krafts in Walkden Market Hall sells very good quality ones for £3. Other shops are cheaper but not as good.
If we don’t do something about the problem, throwaway masks will overtake the plastic bag problem as a form of pollution and a killer of wildlife.'

A very good thought and suggestion - I’ve already seen too many discarded face masks on the streets. Any more suggestions?

As you know the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes has had to be cancelled but the Bishop and his team are offering a ‘Lourdes at Home’ - a series of Masses and reflections on camera in which we can all participate beginning this week. It’s easy to pick up on the website www.salfordlourdes.co.uk - we might make it part of our our pilgrimage through these troubled times and pray especially for all the sick, housebound and isolated.

St Joseph, husband of the Mother of God, pray for us

Every blessing

Fr John

PS On a very much lighter note - I can recommend Demi’s Fudge. Be careful - there’s a high sweetness factor! You might need to increase your exercise
