Dear Friends
Good morning. I hope you’re well and safe.
I managed to get a little fresh air yesterday and enjoy some greenery, trees and fields and mud. The smell and sound of sheep and cattle was a real luxury and a blessing - thank the Lord. The wind and rain were also welcome!
And so …. A little poem from Miroslav Holub
The Door
Go and open the door
Maybe outside there’s
a tree, or a wood,
a garden,
or a magic city.
Go and open the door.
Maybe a dog’s rummaging.
Maybe you’ll see a face,
or an eye,
or the picture
of a picture.
Go and open the door.
If there’s a fog
it will clear.
Go and open the door.
Even if there’s only
the darkness ticking,
even if there’s only
the hollow wind,
even if
nothing
is there,
go and open the door.
At least
there’ll be
a draught.
If Storm Kyle hits us there’ll be rather more than a draught!
It reminds me of Pope John XXIII when, before Vatican II, he said, ‘Open the doors of the Church. Let the Holy Spirit in.’ We need that strength and confidence now for sure.
Please continue to pray for all those on the front line - especially shop workers who have to put up with people ‘forgetting’ to wear their masks.
St Joseph, pray for us
Every blessing
Fr John
