A message from Fr John

Dear Friends
Good morning
Day 3
Today’s Gospel is Luke: 9:  57 - 62
Having set his face towards Jerusalem, Jesus needs companions who have that same capacity.
His responses to the enquirers seem fairly strong and we don’t know if they re-considered.
Can you put yourself in that scene?
What do Jesus’ invitations sound like?
What kind of voice does he have?
Is he asking you or someone else?
How do you think you might have responded?
Would you too possibly have had something else to do before you said yes?
What important preoccupations might you have that will inhibit your response?
What prevents us from giving our heart to Jesus?
What do we need in order to respond generously?
Can we imagine what it might be like to accompany Jesus ‘all the way’?
Can we ask for help from the Holy Spirit?
For another scene: remember Jesus washed the feet of the Apostles. He washes the feet of those who were to travel the hards roads for his sake. He never asks those to follow him for whom he will not give the strength to do so.
St Joseph, companion and friend, pray for us
Every blessing
Fr John
PS I had my fly fishing lesson on the Feast of St Michael - but didn’t catch anything
