A message from Fr John

Dear Friends

My quest for zooming Mass is on-going - a ten year old young man is giving me a tutorial later! I had hoped to make St Joseph’s side altar (the old baptistery) into a chapel but the internet doesn’t reach. We’ll get there!

Today’s Gospel is from St John 8: 1 - 11 - the woman who was due to be stoned to death. It is remarkable for its insight into human psychology: the woman gets the blame but no word about the man; the finger pointing; the use of obscure law.
And it all gets turned upside down by a very simple challenge - the one without sin is invited to throw the first stone. The only ones left are Jesus and the woman and he offers her his mercy and an invitation not to sin.
Jesus is the sinless one who will be put to death.
We are the weak ones who need his salvation - and these days, following his example, being careful not to blame, to point the finger.

I hope you are keeping well and enjoying discovering ‘new forms of hospitality’. For my part, I am grateful for all your prayers on behalf of each other and the support which is being so generous proffered.

Let us continue to prayer for all those on the front line of caring - may they be given all the strength and courage they need.

Patricia, Evelyn, Stella and Roy continue to ask for our prayers. Please keep the families of Anne, Edward, Mary, Warren and Chris in prayer as they mourn the loss of their loved ones.

If you know of anyone who needs our help please let me know.

St Joseph pray with us and for us

Every blessing

Fr John
