A message from Fr John

Dear Friends
Good morning - so much for hoping for better weather
In terms of putting our faith, love and compassion into action, we have had a specific request for presents and food from Caritas, the Food Bank and one of our schools. I  know you will respond generously.
Over many years the parish has collected children’s Christmas presents for Caritas. This year we are initially looking nearer to home. Some children in our schools may not have a Christmas present or a filling meal. We are asking for gifts for boys aged 11, 10, 7 and 5 years old. We are also asking for gifts for girls aged 8 and 9 years old; we also need non-perishable food and toiletries. These can be dropped off at any of our churches after Mass or phone Catherine Greaves on 07811644663. Teachers and volunteers will organise the parcels for the families; the gifts, food and toiletries will then be shared between Caritas and the Food bank.
Thank you for your many kindnesses.
Another little passage from ‘Let us Dream’
"(In the midst of the pandemic) .. what I see - and this gives me hope - is a people’s movement calling for profound change, a change that flows from the roots, from the concrete needs of people, that arises from the dignity and the freedom of the people. This is the deep change we need, change that arises from people capable of meeting, organising and coming up with truly human proposals."
Debbie Shearer says that the Missio Calendars for 2021 have arrived. They will be at the back of church this weekend but Debbie will deliver to anyone not able to come to church if they let her know by contacting her on 07999 888050.

‘We have a long way to go,’ sighed the boy.
‘Yes, but look how far we’ve come,’ said the horse.
St Joseph, protector of family life, pray for us
Every blessing
