A message from Fr John

Dear Friends
A new week begins, a week in which we become ever more aware of the precious gift of life - aware of where that gift comes from and all that goes into sustaining it, and of all those people who ensure that it can be sustained.
I don’t know if you heard ‘Thought for the day’ on Radio 4 this morning but John Bell of the Iona Community was speaking about what might become the ‘new normal’ when the immediate threat of the virus has passed. Among other things, he suggested that we might spend more time speaking to each other in sentences rather than sound bites - I presume that also involves spending more time listening to each other.
He’s absolutely right but I would also venture to suggest that we might spend more time listening to ourselves because it’s in that quiet space that we might hear God speaking to us - not in words necessarily but in the love which doesn’t need words.
A little task for today:
What birds can you hear? Let me or Maureen know.
Thank you for all your prayers and support during these sad days.
Let us pray for all those who are sick: Evelyn, Winnie C., Mary, Patrick and Adela
And for all those who have died: Roy, Alf, Malcolm, Elsie, Matthew, Stella, Chris, Kenneth, Carol Ann, Ingeburg, Winnie Y., Patricia M., Eileen, Maureen, Joan, Frank, Robert, Lynda, Cecilia, Lourdes, John, Michael - and all those who mourn them.
Pray especially for John and and Marjorie whose funerals we celebrate today
Mass today: 10.00am
Exposition: 5.00pm
St Joseph, guardian of families, pray for us
Blessings
Fr John
