Dear Friends
Good morning
We had a very successful meeting last night discussing the future of the parish. We will distribute the minutes in a few days but several key points emerged:
- the sense of isolation felt by some people
- discovering new ways of prayer
- the use of technology
- the importance of young people as we build our parish vision
On a slightly different note - If you get chance to look up Andrea Gorman’s poem at President Biden’s Inauguration, you will be reassured to know that she, along with Greta Thunberg and so many other young people of spirit and courage, have the vision and the vocabulary to help us shape our world for the better. I found it very moving - a lesson in joy and hope coming at such a critical time. She reminds us that we don’t need to be held back by those who seek to divide people against each other.
There is a very important and hard-fought for UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) is coming into force today. Please read about it, pray for its success during these turbulent times and maybe write to our MPs and government to engage with the treaty rather than putting it ‘on the long finger’.
I hope you’re managing to stay safe and warm
St Joseph, pray for us,
Every blessing
Fr John
Please pray for Maureen Ellis whose funeral we will celebrate today at Wardley
