Dear Friends
Today is the feast of St Catherine of Siena, an extraordinary woman. She was a mystic for sure but she combined this with a remarkable hardheadedness which enabled her to speak truth to power. If you have time today, you might look up her story in one of the online encyclopaedias.
If you have children you might also encourage them to look up their patron saints or think about the origins of their names. The communion of saints is a hefty bulwark in these days; many of them lived through precarious times like ourselves. Their courage and devotion can be a great example to us.
The good weather seems to have broken and we’re reverting to typical Manchester dreariness - ah well, so be it. Our spirits remain strong thankfully.
Please let me know if you know of anyone who needs particular help.
Let us pray for all those who are sick:
Evelyn, Winnie C., Mary, Patrick & Adela
We pray for all those who have died:
Roy, Alf, Malcolm, Elsie, Matthew, Stella, Chris, Kenneth, Carol Ann, Ingeburg, Winnie Y., Patricia M., Eileen, Maureen, Joan, Frank, Robert, Lynda, Cecilia, Lourdes, John, Michael, Eileen & Michael
We remember too all those who mourn them
Let’s especially remember Cecilia whose funeral we celebrate today
Dear St Joseph, pray for us
Every blessing
Fr John
