A message from Fr John

Dear Friends

Good morning - I hope you’re well

My walking is going reasonably well - I’m averaging about 11,000 steps per day. One of my knees is beginning to feel it but I’m sure it will ease up over the days and weeks. I’m very much reminded of my ‘old GP’ who, 30 years ago, during one of his interrogations - how much do you smoke, how much do you drink etc. - asked how much exercise I was doing. I replied that it was very little but that I was on my feet all day in the parish and as chaplain to the Children’s Hospital. His response: I know you’re busy but how much exercise are you doing?
His words still haunt me! Thankfully.

Thank you for your generous sponsorship of Cafod and the Alzheimer’s Society both of which are very dear to all of us.

Please note the following two paragraphs fro Michael Davis who is managing our Gift Aid claims from HMRC.

Gift Aid donations - As we approach the end of the tax year, please consider whether your Gift Aid details are correct or in need of up-dating. Ordinarily, personal contact would be made at church but because of the Covid restrictions this year this will have to be done by telephone, notes through the presbytery door at Christ The King or by e-mail to john.dale@dioceseofsalford.org.uk.

The important changes to notify are: Change of name; change of address; change to contact details and or, importantly, changes to your tax situation. Bank account details will not be checked.

Please pray for Winnie, in one of our care homes, who is slowly making her way to heaven.

St Joseph, patron of the dying, pray for us

Every Blessing

Fr John
