A message from Fr John

Dear Friends

Good morning - brighter skies for a while thankfully.

As you see, I have attached the diocesan Hope in the Future Mission Action Plan. It is ambitious, I know, but we have to start somewhere and aiming high might help us to discover (rediscover?) our youthful enthusiasm, something of our evangelical spirit.
Some of the questions don’t necessarily apply to us at the moment but we won’t be able to dodge them in the long term.

The small amount of feedback I have received since last Thursday’s meeting has certainly indicated how important our young people should be in setting out our vision, particularly because of their concern for environment issues. And so … more ideas please.

I would be grateful for any response to the Action Plan before next Thursday’s meeting (4 March) when we can continue to bring our thoughts together. You can send them to me or Maureen by email or to me by hard copy. You don’t have to stick with the plan if it doesn’t help; all constructive ideas are welcome. I would like to be able to prime John Griffin before our next meeting with him on 18 March.

Let’s remember that today is our LENTEN FAST DAY - an important element of our Lenten discipline.

St Joseph, companion on our journey, pray for us

Every blessing

Fr John

PS a simple thought from Pope Francis:
A person who could afford to spend and consume more but regularly uses less heating and wears warmer clothes, shows the kind of convictions and attitudes which help to protect the environment (Laudato Si para. 211)
