A message from Fr John

Dear Friends

We begin today with the sad news that Stella Heath died last night - she and the doctors had struggled long and hard but it became too much for her. Please pray her and her family, Helen, Paula, Andrea and the grandchildren.

Remember too Anne, Edward, Mary and Chris whose funerals are coming up shortly - Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord

These are tough times for sure. We continue to pray for Patricia, Evelyn and Roy and for all the staff members who are caring for them and for so many others during these long days. I presume we will be on our doorsteps this evening at 8.00pm showing our deep gratitude. Please continue to light your Candles of Hope at 7.00pm.

I’m still awaiting instructions on the Holy Week celebrations - muted as they must be. It will be a long journey to the cross for sure but Easter will bring hope and new light. We must retain that deep sense that whenever two or three are gathered in the name of the Lord, he is there with us - and that is true whether we are at home, or on the phone, or on Skype, Zoom, FaceTime or any other place. The Lord never leaves us - we simply need to acknowledge his presence. The ‘Footsteps’ meditation can be a great comfort.

Please stay well and stay safe - keeping a physical distance but closer than ever in our love and compassion. If you know of anyone who needs our help, please let me know. And if you can support the food banks please do - we have a load going to one later today.

St Joseph, our protector and guide, pray for us

Every blessing

Fr John
