A message from Fr John

Dear Friends

A little rain but we need more - and it’s gone cooler - ah well
We had a great number of responses to the request for lockdown reading suggestions - too many for today, so I’ll leave some for tomorrow
Some old favourites:
Jonathan Livingstone Seagull
The Velveteen Rabbit
Captain Corelli’s Mandolin
A bit more challenging:
Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shatterly - an indictment of race and gender inequality
The Time Keeper by Mitch Alborn - interestingly for these times, he explores how we see and use time
And then some I’m not familiar with:
Nothing Ventured - Jeffrey Archer
Killing with Confetti - Peter Lovesey
The Killing Habit - Mark Billingham
The Innocent Wife - Amy Lloyd
The Death of Mrs Westaway - Ruth Ware
The Night Fire - Michael Connelly
And then an alternative suggestion:
The I (as in the 'I’ newspaper) Crossword book - several editions
Also for those with a tablet the Guardian Quick Crossword is available daily for free online and if one is stuck - then just by highlighting the particular clue the answer is revealed.
That should keep us going until tomorrow.
Please remember all of our family, friends and parishioners who are on the frontline
Laura, Ian, Joseph, Lisa, Patrick, Chris, Catherine, Anne, Terry, Mark, Theo, Clare, Richard, Anthony, Jane, James, Mary, Francis, Ruth, Andrew
Please pray too for all our teachers who must care for our children these days and face increasing challenges.
Please pray for Gordon McDonald whose funeral we celebrate today
St Joseph, guardian of families, pray for us
Every Blessing
Fr John
