A message from Fr John

Dear Friends

Blustery day again - the wind made short work of my early flowering peony
More reading
The Manchester Man  - Isabella Banks

Birdson - Sebastian Faulks

Matthew Shardlake series - C.J. Sansom (excellent read)

Dozens of books written by Paul Doherty a Catholic headmaster

Almonds and Raisins and three sequels by Maisie Mosco.

Last Kingdom series by Bernard Cornwell
The Forest and Dublin both by Edward Rutherford
That should keep us going. But I’d like to re-recommend:
Finding your Hidden Treasure by Benignus O’Rourke - a book for these times
I’ve had lots of enquiries about churches re-opening and all that might be required. I have no answers; we must wait for instructions from the Archbishops and our own bishop.
However, I suspect that, as a first step we might be able to open one church for very limited numbers whilst maintaining very strict distancing rules and following all the necessary hygiene requirements.
To ensure that this is the case would anyone be prepared to volunteer to help with this - eg alcohol gel at the door, wiping down benches and handles etc
You would need to have had a DBS check and probably be under 70 years of age.
Please communicate with me directly if you feel able and willing.
I am also taking advice on how we might improve security on our zoomed Masses. Please keep the code and password for parishioners only.
Please, please stay safe and well - we all miss family and friends but this will pass and we need to be in best form when it does. Keep praying for each other
St Joseph, guardian of the Holy Family and our families, pray for us
Every blessing
Fr John
