A message from Fr John

Dear Friends

Good morning - I hope you have a happy and relaxed Bank Holiday albeit that days do seem to merge
Doesn’t the news have the capacity to drive you daft! So many distracting headlines when there’s so much else we can, and maybe should, be concentrating on. For example, the even quieter roads today are a reminder of the need to think about our carbon footprint - it’s lovely to smell and even taste the God-given air rather than exhaust fumes.
Pope Francis in his wonderful letter Laudato Is reminds us of the need to be grateful for this planet and for all the people who share it - especially the poor. Perhaps during these times we might find time to re-read it - if you don’t have a copy, it is freely available to read on the Vatican website.
Another perspective from the Desert Fathers:
A certain philosopher asked Abbot Antony:
‘Father, how can you be so happy when you are deprived of the consolation of books?’
Abbot Antony replied:
‘’My book, O philosopher, is the nature of created things, and anytime I want to read the words of God, the book is before me.'

Let us pray for those who are sick:

Evelyn, Adela, Winnie, Sylvia, Joe, Susan and Audrey

And for those who have died:

Fr Peter, Michael, Roy, Alf, Malcolm, Elsie, Matthew, Anne, Stella, Chris, Kenneth, Carol Ann, Ingeburg, Winnie, Patricia, Eileen, Maureen, Joan, Frank, Robert, Lynda, Cecilia, Lourdes, Dale, John, Eileen, Michael, Graham, Maria, Andrew, Gladys, Ellen, Patrick, Pauline, Michael, Alice, Gordon and Mary

St Joseph, guardian of family life, pray for us
Every blessing
Fr John
