A message from Fr John

Dear Friends
At last a little rain that might just soak through to the roots.
Today is the feast of St Boniface - some say he is the greatest ever Englishman and certainly a great European. He was certainly a remarkable many - a powerful missionary, from Crediton in Devon, who managed not only to convert vast tracts of Germany but built a strong sense of Church unity where previously there had been division. He established dioceses and monasteries; he built strong relations with the civil authorities - even crowning King Pippin, father of Charlemagne, the first Holy Roman Emperor. And as if that wasn’t enough he was given the crowning glory of martyrdom. An extraordinary man - one of the great architects of Christian Europe.
One day I hope to make a pilgrimage to the Cathedral at Fulda where he is buried. Why? His feast is my anniversary of priesthood - 44 years today. Thanks be to God.
Let’s continue to remember in our prayer today all those who care for the sick and all our frontline workers:
Joseph, Lisa, Patrick, Chris, Catherine, Anne, Terry, Mark, Theo, Clare, Richard, Anthony, Jane, James, Andrew, Mary, Francis, Ruth, Tony, Sue, Dan, Fiona, Katy. Ian & Bethany
Let us also remember those who are striving for justice in the USA - building bridges not walls
Please remember Elsie Durkin in your prayers - one of the great stalwarts of the parish - whose funeral we celebrate today
Thank you for responding to the request for standing orders and gift aid donations to the parish.
St Joseph, patron of the parish during these difficult days, pray for us
Every blessing
Fr John
