A message from Fr John

Dear Friends
Good morning - the rain is a gentle reminder that we live in Manchester
I hope you’re keeping well and safe
As you know, we will be opening Christ the King church today at 2.00pm for an hour. Please feel fee to come; stewards will be at the door to guide you through the health and safety procedures. Do not feel as though you must come; the Lord knows the desires of your heart - and that is prayer in itself. The Bishop is very clear that our churches cannot be the source of another outbreak; his homily yesterday from the Cathedral makes that message very strongly. You could try to watch the homily on the diocesan website - it’s also very good on Saints Peter and Paul.
Our prayer at home, our growing sense of the contemplative dimension of our lives and our heightened awareness of our responsibility for the world around us are not a substitute for Mass but they are a building up of our spiritual resources for now and for the future.
On a practical note:
The Summer edition of Mission Today which includes its annual report has been published but because of the difficulty in distribution it has been made available on-line - it’s a jolly good read and heartwarming in these difficult days. Simply follow the link below.

We are very aware of so many people who are sick and who have died during these times - not being able to accompany the sick, and not able to mourn with those who have lost people close to them. The time will come when we can do all those things properly but for now our hearts go out to them all and we keep them close in prayer.

For those who are sick

Adela, Winnie, Sylvia, Joe, Susan, Irene, Paddy, Janet, Maureen and Audrey

For those who have died

Fr Peter, Michael, Roy, Alf, Malcolm, Elsie, Matthew, Anne, Stella, Chris, Kenneth, Carol Ann, Ingeburg, Winnie, Patricia, Eileen, Maureen, Joan, Frank, Robert, Lynda, Cecilia, Lourdes, Dale, John, Eileen, Michael, Graham, Maria, Andrew, Gladys, Ellen, Patrick, Pauline, Michael, Alice, Gordon, Mary, William, Elsie, Lynn, Pauline, Richard, Tom, Paula, Michael, Susan, Denis, Tony and Antoinette

Dear St Joseph, patron of those who mourn, pray for us
Every blessing
Fr John
