A message from Fr John

Dear Friends

Good morning

One can’t help but feel sorry for the people of Leicester who are facing another period of serious lockdown. It is a wonderfully diverse city with a good record of inter-cultural relations; they will need every bit of community cohesion that they can muster. Their situation serves as a warning to us too - that the crisis is not over and we need to continue to take every precaution we can whilst preparing for the time when we can celebrate our own community life. Our teachers are working hard to ensure that our schools can be open in September with all the safeguards in place - keep them in your prayer.

Christ the King church was opened for the first time yesterday and three people took the opportunity to visit. It will be open again on Wednesday evening from 6 - 7.00pm.Thanks to the volunteers who cleaned the church both before and after the session and helped to ensure that all the necessary precautions were followed. These are only tentative first steps and we must be very careful.

A little prayer for confidence from Pope Francis:
God, who calls us to generous commitment and to give him our all, offers us the light and the strength needed to continue on our way. In the heart of this world. The Lord of life who loves us so much, is always present. He does not abandon us, he does not leave us alone, for he has united himself definitively to our earth, and his love always impels us to find new ways.
Praise be to him!

On another note:
The next poetry zoom meet is on Monday July 6th at 7pm . All welcome whether to engage or just listen. People wanting to submit poems in advance should email them to Cecelia on Friday July 3 so she can circulate them. Again there is an open choice but maybe we could think in terms of a multi-cultural theme - even Geordie, Yorkshire, Scouse or Rasta.

St Joseph, guardian of the sick, pray for us

Every blessing

Fr John
