Dear Friends
Good morning
The news is going all over the place these days and it’s difficult to keep track of all the pieces of advice which are proffered by the various sources both political and scientific. This morning's news from California and elsewhere on the spread of the virus is not good, and so anything we do must be tempered by utmost caution.
Let’s go to the Desert Fathers again for some common sense:
Abbot Pastor said:
A man must breathe humility and the fear of God just as ceaselessly as he inhales and exhales the air.
Abbot Alonius said:
Humility is the land where God wants us to go and offer sacrifice.
One of the elders was asked what was humility, and he said:
If you forgive a brother who has injured you before he himself asks pardon.
No one knows for sure where we are going during these strange times but our motto must be to proceed with caution, common sense and humility, caring for each other with compassion.
Please pray for Michael Williams whose funeral we celebrate today
Thank you for your support of the Food Bank
St Joseph, pray for us
Every blessing
Fr John
