Dear Friends
Another Sunday - our opportunity to praise and thank God for all the blessings we share, albeit in new and unforeseen ways.
I will again say Mass at 12 noon and as I do I will recall all your faces - if not all your names - picturing where you sit. I will give thanks for all the gifts each of you brings - from the youngest to those not so young.
I am very much aware of the little ways in which everyone contributes to the grace of the whole family of the parish. Some have a more prominent role, others more ‘backseat’ but each bring their own unique gift. Thank you.
As we enter the last two weeks of Lent, we might reflect more deeply on our relationship with God - our Lenten penance have sharpened our sense of our need for the mercy and compassion which only Jesus can offer. There is a powerful sentence in today’s Gospel - the raising of Lazarus, John 11: 1 - 45. Jesus says, ‘Unbind him; let him go free.’ We might want to ponder on what it is that binds us, that holds us back from loving God and each other with freedom and joy.
I hope you are keeping well. We remember all those who are depending on our prayers - the doctors, nurses and carers, the police, the pressured shop workers and so many more.
We keep P and E, S and R especially close to us as well as the families of Anne, Edward, Warren and Mary who are in mourning.
The bishop is saying Mass at 7.30 each morning, praying for all the people of our diocese. He is also praying in front of the Blessed Sacrament between 5 and 6 each evening. I will do likewise here at CTK. You might want to join us then in your own homes.
This evening can we build that custom of putting a lighted candle in our windows at 7.00pm - they are our candles of hope.
If you know of anyone who needs particular help, please let me know.
St Joseph, our guardian, pray for us
Every blessing
Fr John
