Church opening

Posted on: 23/10/2020

After discussions with the Finance Committee and the Lay Leadership team during the week, it was decided that we should slowly begin to open our churches for weekend worship, following all the necessary guidelines and safety procedures. And so for a trial period, beginning next week we will have Mass as follows:

Saturday: 12.30pm at Our Lady and Lancashire Martyrs and 5.00pm at Christ the King
Sunday: 9.00am at St Edmund's and 11.00am on Zoom

Please note there is still no obligation to attend Sunday Mass – we must, however keep each other in prayer.

To book: please email Maureen Hawes on MaureenHawes@live.co.uk or phone or text Maureen on 07974 560 319

The weekday Mass rota will also change – details next week.

Please note that for now - until we see how this trial goes – there are two key elements:

  • you must book with Maureen – this is an essential part of 'track and trace'
  • it will only be possible to attend one Mass per week - except Stewards who might be asked to cover two Masses

This will help to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to attend, that we can maintain social distancing in church, and that we don't have to turn anyone away at the door because of numbers. Family 'bubbles' are obviously welcome - come wrapped up – the church doors will be open
