Dear Friends
Good morning - I hope you’re well and, whether you are on your own or with family, becoming adjusted to the new realities. I will be out of quarantine on Friday morning and going to conduct the funeral of Anne Grant at Agecroft Crematorium.
I think I have managed to solve Zoom and have made a little chapel in the meeting room at CTK (including the statue of St Joseph and Ken Davis’ candlesticks). I will say Mass at 12.00pm and have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament between 5.00 and 6.00pm.
If you would like to join me for those times get in touch and I will talk you through how to get setup.
I am very much reminded of the Gospel we heard on Ash Wednesday, beginning our Lenten season, when Jesus said, ‘When you pray go to your private room and, when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in that secret place, and your Father who sees all that is done in secret will reward you.’
It is a new form of Eucharistic hospitality but, as Pope Francis constantly reminds us, it is a source of God’s grace and mercy.
Fingers crossed then for 11.55am when I’ll open the room. And I will open it again at 4.55pm.
These days are a time to pray, to reflect, to give thanks for all we share at this time particularly our shared humanity - all people are sons and daughters of the one God and all are united in ways we couldn’t have dreamed of. And .... maybe as we spend more time in our gardens we might also reflect on our relationship with the world God gives us and how we use its resources.
Please continue to pray for Patricia, Evelyn, Stella and Roy who are still in hospital, and for Mary and Matthew who have asked for our prayers.
We will remember at Mass those who have died Anne, Edward, Mary, Christopher and Frank and pray for the comfort of those who mourn them.
Let’s also pray for Bishop John and Pope Francis as they pray for the calming of the storm.
Dear St Joseph, pray for us
Every blessing
