Dear Friends
Good morning
I hope you’re well and staying safe - face masks and safe distancing are not easy but absolutely essential if we are ever to get over the pandemic and, importantly, when the whole congregation can gather for Mass.
We had a good eco-team meeting last night albeit that Zoomed sessions are not easy. Lots of good suggestions came up; some were based on the Cafod Live Simply ideas. I have attached the Cafod’s list with 100 key suggestions, many of which we have already highlighted. Please read them and maybe we can use some as individuals and as a community. Our current crisis is just one symptom of many in our rapidly changing world and we certainly can’t leave it to politicians to sort out all the issues.
(The builders are here today to begin work on my half-demolished bedroom and chapel - hence there are no services from here today. We’ll resume tomorrow)
Let's try to be a Laudato Si parish and respond generously to Pope Francis’ challenges. I think an appropriate place to start during these times is by recognising that we are a ‘field hospital’ and reach out to the isolated.
I am very conscious that many of our parishioners cannot get to Mass and do the ordinary things, some don’t have access to the internet and some don’t have televisions capable of tuning in to streamed Masses. Please try to phone or knock on the door of those who are isolated - stand well back, of course, when the door is opened - and let them know they are certainly not forgotten.
St Joseph, pray for us
Every blessing
Fr John
